Thursday, May 12th – Moab, Utah – Day 91
Next stop was the Upheaval Dome and the 1.2-mile moderate hike to the viewpoints. We had some sandwiches before the hike. The viewpoints were on top of massive, rounded rocks that overlooked a multitude of canyons. There were stairs carved into the rock to assist the steep portions. The trail was really fun to walk; rocks to climb on and over, and great views.
The next stop was a short drive away. Whale trail was to the top of a rock formation that looked roughly like a whale. We stood in the parking lot and talked to another family about their sleeper van; there were many ideas on how we could improve our own rig. Once finished chatting, the hike was a short 0.4-mile walk up onto these rocks. John wanted to take his own route as usual but ended up at the top. Gen said it was her favourite view of the day. We decided to sit and appreciate what we were looking at for a while.
