The Land of Disney Pt. 4

When the parade ended, we went on “it’s a small world” since there was no line anymore. When we got out the fireworks and video were about to start. We settled in for a musical mash-up of all your favourite Disney songs. The fireworks and music were perfectly timed.

When the final firework went off, we stopped to ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant before heading off to Fantasmic!, a Mickey led performance in Frontierland. We were the last ones there and at the back of the crowd. I lifted up multiple children for as long as I could and then we decided to leave.

We went to the Haunted Mansion which was great. They use the Pepper’s ghost effect (look it up) to provide ghosts and ghouls. Aisling and Mom went to Splash Mountain while Charlotte, a sleeping John and I went to buy Mickey shaped beignets. John rallied with the help of a little powdered sugar and we set-off for Alice in Wonderland. At this point things were shutting down, but we squeezed into Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride just before the line closed. Just as we were about to go on, the ride shut down. We didn’t want to quit, we waited for the problem to be resolved before enjoying the last ride of the day.

Slowly we walked out of the park. There was a final stop at the shops of Main Street USA, Gen didn’t want the day to end despite it being 1am. We arrived exhausted at the bus to the Toy Story parking lot. Gen drove back to the mountains for a well deserved rest.

Disneyworld, check, Disneyland, check, where to next? The four Disney’s in China, Disney France, our Disney story continues.

Wednesday, May 25th –Lake Mead National Recreation Area to Las Vegas, Nevada – Day 104  We woke up in our roadside turn out and got ready for the day. Our plan was to go for a swim at Lake Mead, see the Hoover Dam and head back into Vegas. The morning was stifling hot, we were looking forward to the swim.   We drove to the visitor centre at Lake Mead Recreation Centre. We could see Lake Mead on the way. The water was well below the high-water line on the rocks. At the visitor centre we got our passport stamped, filled our water bottles, and received junior ranger booklets. The air conditioning was so nice we set up the kids to work on their booklets and hung around. The kids finished up enough activities that they were sworn in by a very nice ranger before we left.   We decided to go see the Hoover Dam first. We dropped the trailer in the parking lot. We heard it might need to be opened at the security checkpoint and we couldn’t be bothered. The H...
