A Stampede Hangover

Thursday, July 14th – Calgary, Alberta - Day 153

Today was the Stampede hangover. We were all so tired in the morning we slept in. There was very little motivation to do anything. Don was heading to his local pub so I said I would join him. It was a fantastic time chatting with his buddies and they had delicious wings.

Gen made a quick trip out to purchase some groceries to make Don a meal to thank him for letting us stay in his driveway. He was so generous with his house. He didn’t even seem to mind the kids hanging around and making noise. We made a dinner with some incredible Alberta steaks (something checked off our to-do list), potatoes, mushrooms and onions, salad and more. Jo-Ce’s cousin Leo came over to dine with us at his brother’s house. We tried to convince him and David to come to Drumheller with us the next day; he said he would try to convince David to come and let us know.

We watched a little bit of tv and went to bed. Great day.

The water was well below the high-water line on the rocks. At the visitor centre we got our passport stamped, filled our water bottles, and received junior ranger booklets. The air conditioning was so nice we set up the kids to work on their booklets and hung around. The kids finished up enough activities that they were sworn in by a very nice ranger before we left.   We decided to go see the Hoover Dam first. We dropped the trailer in the parking lot. We heard it might need to be opened at the security checkpoint and we couldn’t be bothered. The H...
