Thursday, June 16th – Big Sur State Park to Memorial County Park, California - Day 125
Big plans today, we had to drive to San Francisco after seeing as much of the coast as we could. The girls were constantly asking to go with their friends to fish for crawfish so we let them go back to the river while we packed up. We started by driving 20 minutes south along the coast. We wasted an hour at Nepenthe for reasons unknown.
We checked out some scenic lookouts before arriving at the trailhead to McWay Falls in Julia Pfeiffer State Park. The end of the trail looks out upon a beautiful scene; a stream that falls over a cliff and directly onto the beach. We ate a lunch of hamburgers that Gen had cooked that morning.
We drove a little further along the coast before turning around and setting our sights north. A short hike in Andrew Molera State Park led us to a rugged coastline. The amazing thing, other than the views, was the colours along the shoreline provided by the wildflower, shrubbery, and lichen.
